Thoughtful Leadership for the Whole Community
Every decision I make on council is guided by one principle — I’m here to govern for all of White Rock.
That means considering the needs of everyone in White Rock — from families and seniors to businesses and young people — and making decisions that work not just for today, but for generations to come.
I believe smart growth, strong infrastructure, and vibrant public spaces are how we create a thriving White Rock for today — and for the future.
What I’ve Delivered for Our City
Dogs on the Promenade — Early Morning Access
I supported a balanced approach that allows responsible dog owners to enjoy the promenade from 5:30 AM to 9:00 AM, April through October.
Why it matters:
This policy responds to community requests for more inclusive public spaces while protecting the enjoyment and accessibility of the waterfront for everyone. It shows that thoughtful policy can create fair, practical solutions without creating unnecessary division.
Johnston Road Infrastructure Upgrade
I supported critical upgrades to aging pipes and utilities under Johnston Road — work delayed by the last council, driving up risks and costs.
Why it matters:
Replacing aging infrastructure prevents costly failures and protects taxpayers. At the same time, we made the area safer for pedestrians and vehicles, supporting local businesses and improving the heart of our city.
Affordable Housing Strategy — Finally Delivered
As past Chair of the Housing Advisory Committee, I led the development of White Rock’s first Affordable Housing Strategy — after the previous council failed to get it done.
Why it matters:
It provides a clear, responsible roadmap to protect and encourage diverse housing options for seniors, families, and workers. This helps ensure people who want to live, work, or retire in White Rock can actually find a place to call home.
Bringing Back the Night Market
I proudly supported the successful return of Friday Night Markets in 2025, helping to re-energize our local economy and create fun, community-focused events.
Why it matters:
Events like the Night Market make White Rock more vibrant, support local businesses, attract visitors, and create spaces where residents of all ages can gather and connect.
Supporting Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)
I voted to support BRT between White Rock and Surrey to ensure our city is prepared for better, greener, more reliable regional transit.
Why it matters:
BRT helps reduce traffic congestion, provides faster transportation options, and supports responsible growth — making it easier for people to live, work, and get around without needing a car.
Reducing Permit Wait Times — From Years to Weeks
I supported decisive action to cut the development permit backlog, reducing wait times from over two years to just weeks.
Why it matters:
Getting housing and community projects approved faster keeps our city moving forward. It reduces red tape, makes the process more predictable, and ensures White Rock is open for responsible, well-planned growth.
Planning for Responsible Growth Along North Bluff
Growth is happening — and how we manage it will determine the future of our community.
Responsible growth means upgrading infrastructure before it fails, supporting our small businesses, and creating vibrant public spaces where people want to live, work, and gather.
One key part of this approach is the North Bluff Corridor Study, currently underway. This study focuses on smart, well-planned growth in an area that makes sense due to its proximity to Surrey, major roads like North Bluff Road, and planned transit improvements. By concentrating growth near transit and major roads, and at the hilltop where taller buildings fit best, we can protect our quieter neighbourhoods and preserve views, sunlight, and the unique character of our waterfront.
Smart growth also means protecting our quality of life and keeping taxes fair — ensuring White Rock remains a thriving, livable city for everyone.
By planning carefully and proactively, we’re building a community that supports small businesses, improves infrastructure, and fosters vibrant public spaces — all while respecting what makes White Rock special.
Looking Ahead
My Commitment to You
I’ll keep making decisions that reflect the needs of our entire community.
I’ll continue asking the important questions, reviewing the facts, and planning thoughtfully for the long-term health and vibrancy of our city.
Together, we can build a White Rock that’s strong, inclusive, and ready for the future.
